Celebrating the Building Industry’s Future Leaders
Posted By April Crews

Each year, seven built environment awards are presented during a ceremony at the National Institute of Building Sciences’ Building Innovation conference. The Future Leaders Award honors a person in the building industry who is doing exemplary work and leading the way in education, innovation, or sustainability in the built environment.

The 2022 Future Leaders Award was given to Jamie Leigh Price, Mitigation Investment Lead for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Price received the award for her work in risk mitigation and emergency response. She was a leading force in developing FEMA's National Mitigation Investment Strategy, which was later included in FEMA's strategic plan. Her work is well recognized and influential in strengthening the nation's disaster resilience.

Other NIBS built environment awards include Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Leadership, NIBS Innovator, NIBS Distinguished Service Award, Exceptional Woman in Building, and the Mortimer M. Marshall Lifetime Achievement. Two students also were awarded the Betty and Mort Marshall Memorial Scholarship.

This year’s award winners will be announced at Building Innovation 2023 at the Washington Hilton in Washington, DC. BI2023 takes place September 5-7. Register now at buildinginnovation.org. Learn more about NIBS honors and awards at nibs.org/awards.
