The National Institute of Building Sciences today is launching a comprehensive membership campaign that’s aimed at raising awareness, recruiting new members, and engaging members who have long supported the mission and success of NIBS.

#ThisIsNIBS features testimonial videos by NIBS members, sharing their favorite part of being a member of our community. Videos will be shared across the @bldgsciences handle on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.

“Our members represent all segments of the building industry and are key stakeholders who move us forward,” says Lakisha A. Woods, CAE, President and CEO of NIBS. “These stories highlight the mission of our organization, making the built environment a safer and more sustainable place to live, work, learn and play.”

First up is Katharine E. Morgan, President of ASTM International. ASTM International is one of the world’s largest organizations for the development of international voluntary consensus standards.

Morgan has three decades of experience in increasingly strategic and managerial roles there. She’s a respected leader in the global standards community, and she serves as Vice Chair of the NIBS Consultative Council.

“Being a NIBS member is very connecting,” Morgan says. “It provides critical access – access to information, access to opportunity for dialogue, access to learning, and access to a network of industry professionals.”

Morgan says being a NIBS member also allows her to be on the giving end, sharing “ASTM activities and our thought leadership with others in the community.” It’s been a positive return on investment, Morgan says.

NIBS also recently launched a brand new nibs.org website. Part of the site launch includes the Engage platform, which allows members to connect on new and ongoing projects. Engage also allows NIBS council members to share documents, meeting minutes, and other important material with one another in a safe location.
