NIBS Joins U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day

Standardization offers practical solutions that integrate contributions from nearly every sector—business, local and national governments, and individuals.

In October, the world celebrates the importance of standards. The global celebration took place October 14; the U.S. celebrated two days earlier on October 12.

The National Institute of Building Sciences is a proud member of the U.S. celebration of World Standards Day planning committee, which is co-chaired by the American National Standards Institute and National Institute of Standards and Technology.

The celebration took place at the Ronald Reagan International Trade Center in Washington, DC, and it brought together private- and public-sector stakeholders to engage on priority issues and celebrate standardization achievements.

NIBS staff and Board Chair Tom Phoenix attended the U.S. celebration. The NIBS team was proud to take the baton from 2023 administrating organization, ASTM International. Next year, NIBS will serve as the administrating organization of the U.S. celebration. This honor coincides with NIBS’ 50th anniversary in 2024.

Standards remain core to our work at NIBS. You can find more on our commitment to this in our strategic plan.
