For nearly three decades, the National Institute of Building Sciences has recognized outstanding members of the built environment for their service, commitment, and dedication to the nation.

Awards nominations opened today, April 4, and they will remain open for several weeks.

Last year, NIBS opened several new awards categories to winners who were announced during Building Innovation 2021. Among the inaugural awards: Distinguished Service, which was awarded to John Messner, chair of the U.S. National BIM Standard and professor with Penn State University.

The NIBS Distinguished Service Award is given to an individual or organizational member who has made a substantial contribution in support of the mission, goals, and objectives of NIBS. The award honors the impact made to the entire building community on NIBS’ behalf.

This year’s winners will be announced at Building Innovation 2022 at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC.

BI2022 takes place September 26-28, 2022.
