Diving Into Digital Twins for the New Emerging Technologies Series
The U.S. celebration takes place November 14
(WASHINGTON, DC, April 19, 2024) – The National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) is proud to announce service as the administrating organization of the U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day (WSD) this fall.
The 2024 theme is “Shared Vision for a Better World: Standards for the Changing Climate.”
The U.S. celebration takes place annually, and it recognizes and honors the contributions of the standards and conformity assessment community. U.S. activities are organized and hosted by the U.S. Celebration of WSD planning committee, which consists of standards and conformity assessment representatives. The committee is co-chaired by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
“The National Institute of Building Sciences has studied climate change and the mitigation of natural hazards for decades,” said Stephen T. Ayers, Interim President & CEO of NIBS. “We are honored to serve as administrating organization of the U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day alongside ANSI and NIST, during this milestone 50th anniversary year of NIBS.”
The U.S. standardization system has the greatest impact when all stakeholders work together.
And as the climate continues to change, the standards community and the whole of the built environment must be resilient and ready to face the challenges ahead. Collaboration is key.
The National Institute of Building Sciences was established in August 1974, by the U.S. Congress in the Housing and Community Development Act, Public Law 93-383. At that time, Congress recognized the need for an organization to serve as an authoritative source supporting government and private sector building science research, code/standards development, and innovative technology integration.
Several special events are planned in 2024, including the release of a 50th Anniversary Report, launch of new online resources reflecting NIBS achievements, and a Golden Anniversary celebration during Building Innovation 2024 at the Capital Hilton in Washington, DC. BI2024 takes place May 22-24.
National Institute of Building Sciences brings together labor and consumer interests, government representatives, regulatory agencies, and members of the building industry to identify and resolve problems and potential issues around the built environment. NIBS is a non-profit, non-governmental organization. For more information, visit nibs.org or follow @bldgsciences on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
