BIM Executives Discuss CAD, BIM Standards Release & Program Development Plans

An executive roundtable of industry leaders met this month to discuss project updates related to building information management (BIM). National BIM Program Executive Director Johnny Fortune led the meeting which outlined the upcoming release of the U.S. National CAD Standard (NCS) and the National BIM Standard-United States (NBIMS-US), as well as planning activities for the U.S. National BIM Program (NBP).

National BIM Standard-US Version 4 Nears Balloting Period

The National Institute of Building Sciences, Building Information Management (BIM) Council, partners, industry experts, and members have been working hard to complete the core modules of the next version of the National BIM Standard-United States (NBIMS-US).

NBIMS-US V4 has been three years in the making.

This fall, it’s set to be unveiled at Building Innovation 2023 (BI2023) in Washington, DC.

United States National CAD Standard® Ballot Comment Period to Open April 28

The NIBS Building Information Management Council (BIMC) National CAD Standard Steering Committee (NCS SC) responsible for overseeing the development of the latest version of the nation’s leading CAD standard is calling upon owners and users of the United States National CAD Standard® V6 (NCS) to participate in the review of the proposed changes to the current edition of the standard.

The NCS Ballot Comment Period will open on April 28, 2023. This is your chance to add your thoughts on the proposed changes to reorganize the next version of the standard.

National CAD Standard

The NCS V7 Steering Committee is calling upon current owners and users of the United States National CAD Standard® (NCS) to participate in the development of the latest version of the nation’s leading CAD standard.

Owners of the NCS V6 are encouraged to get involved in the development of the next edition by joining the NCS V7 Project Committee. The NCS V7 Steering Committee and NCS V7 Project Committee are committees of the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) Building Information Management Council (BIMC).
