Model Federation and Standards

Defines how the model is to be created, named, divided (if needed), federated, and organized, as well as the standards that will be used during the project.

  1. Model Federation Description: A description of whether the model includes the complete asset, or are model(s) to be broken into different sections, e.g., floors, road segments, etc.
  2. Naming Convention: A table that defines the naming conventions that will be used for data sources and common naming requirements for elements within the modeled content.
    1. Convention Type: The type of naming convention to be used, e.g., files, models, levels, or elements.
    2. Naming Convention Title Requirement: The title of the naming convention requirements to be used for the content type.
    3. Naming Convention Version: The version of the naming convention to be used for the project.
    4. Description of Naming Convention: A description of the naming convention systems. The description may be a complete description, or may be a summary description with additional details contained in the Location of Naming Convention Details.
    5. Location of Naming Convention Details: A URL to a source with additional details regarding the naming convention.
  3. Reference Coordinate System: Underlying global rectangular Cartesian coordinate system to which all geometry refers.
  4. UTM Zone: The Universal Transverse Mercator Zone for the project location
  5. Horizontal Units of Measure: The units of measure for horizontal measurements.
  6. Vertical Units of Measure: The units of measure for vertical measurements.
  7. Horizontal Datum: The specified horizontal datum for all horizontal positions.
  8. Vertical Datum: The specified vertical datum for all vertical positions.
  9. Project Origin Longitude: The longitude for the project coordinate system to be used on the project.
  10. Project Origin Latitude: The latitude for the project coordinate system to be used on the project.
  11. Project Origin Elevation: The elevation for the project coordinate system to be used on the project.
  12. Project Grid Offset from True North: The number of degrees that the project grid is offset from True North.
  13. Reference Grid Path: A path to a reference grid for use in modeling.
  14. Reference Survey: A path to the referenced survey to be used for the project.
  15. Building Information Management Standards: A table of standards that will be used to define requirements for a specific purpose.
    1. Standard Name: The name of the referenced standard.
    2. Standard Version: The version of the referenced standard.
    3. Standard Purpose: The purpose of referencing the standard for defined requirements.
