Fenestration: A World of Change

The windows industry has one of the toughest jobs in building performance—it has to build products that withstand all of the forces of sun, wind, rain, hurricanes and three-year-olds while remaining essentially invisible. Manufacturers are also expected to achieve all of these architectural performance imperatives with products that last decades. Over time our industry has come to expect even greater performance delivery from our fenestration systems—adding increased safety during fire and withstanding greater impact and blast resistance during a disaster (whether natural or man-made).

Fortunately, windows and glazing have kept up with industry needs. From composite framing systems and new glazing materials, through new performance ratings and certifications, and how these important building envelope systems are integrated with lighting, HVAC and other building elements, the industry continues to introduce new fenestration innovations.

With the theme Fenestration: A World of Change, the Building Enclosure Technology and Environment Council (BETEC) Symposium will provide attendees with the most recent developments in fenestration performance and technology. For this symposium, BETEC has assembled a collection of leading experts who will share the latest information available on a variety of fenestration technology and performance topics. The BETEC Symposium is a must-attend for architects, engineers, developers and anyone involved in critical decisions about buildings.

• Rich Walker, President & CEO, American Architectural Manufacturers Association, on the latest in fenestration security and blast resistance ratings and certifications.
• Valerie Block, Senior Marketing Specialist, Dupont Glass Laminating, on security glazing design trends, including intrusion resistance, as well as bomb blast and ballistics protection.
• Herb Yudenfriend, President, Hy-light Corporation, on the history of fenestration leadership.
