Get Involved in the buildingSMART alliance®"... VA fully supports the development of national standards for BIM and other data standards under the umbrella of buildingSMART alliance® that are necessary to achieve our critical mission goals." Renée Tietjen AIA RLA LEED-AP Building Information Models (BIM) are transforming the facilities industry and working together as an industry we can accomplish several objectives including: coordinated and comprehensive education, standards development, foundational technology and development of best business process practices. These things cannot be accomplished by one office, one company, association, or industry segment. Accomplishing these things while also achieving interoperability is the basic purpose of the Alliance. Property Owners and Facility Managers: Today building projects cost more to build and operate than they should because initial design doesn’t effectively account for lifetime operation of the project. The Alliance can help property owners and facility managers reduce costs by effectively connecting all stakeholders and providing tools and standards that allow a project to be built electronically before it is built physically. Contractors, Subcontractors and Fabricators: The Alliance champions the creation of standards that help all stakeholders in a building project communicate effectively and create a facility electronically before it is built physically. This effort will help dramatically reducing waste, cost and construction time; significantly improving efficiency, profit and helping protect the environment. Designers, Engineers and Specifiers: Joining the Alliance can help designers be in on the ground floor of the creation of standards that will ultimately change the facilities industry. Increasingly design tools are digital, electronic, and lifecycle oriented and bSa can help designers lead the process. Join the Institute and buildingSMART alliance®If you are not yet a member please consider joining the Institute and the Alliance. The buildingSMART alliance® is a council of the National Institute of Building Sciences (the Institute) and your membership to the Institute will allow you to join the Alliance. Once you have made the decision to join, then we want you to take advantage of the activities the Alliance provides. However you can choose how deeply you want to get involved. Your funds alone are a significant benefit to the facilities industry.
Your Support is at the heart of our success. We appreciate each and every one's contribution. |
