SBIC Issues Call for 2012 Beyond Green™ Entries
Tuesday, July 17, 2012
The National Institute of Building Sciences Sustainable Buildings Industry Council (SBIC) is calling for entries for its 2012 Beyond Green™ High-Performance Building Awards. This unique program highlights those initiatives that shape, inform and catalyze the high-performance building market, while providing real-world examples of high-performance design and construction processes.
The Beyond Green™ Awards recognize buildings, initiatives and products that best exemplify the eight design objectives of a high-performance building: sustainability, accessibility, aesthetics, cost-effectiveness, functionality, productivity, historical sensitivity, and safety and security. Categories include: Category A: High-Performance Buildings; Category B: High-Performance Initiatives; and Category C: High-Performance Products.
Winners of the Beyond Green™ High-Performance Building Awards will present their projects at a special Beyond Green™ Awards Luncheon sponsored by the Modular Building Institute, to be held during Building Innovation 2013, the National Institute of Building Sciences Annual Conference and Expo, January 7-10, 2013. This presentation and poster session will give winners an opportunity to share their experiences directly with leaders in the building community, highlighting the challenges and opportunities they faced while delivering high-performance buildings. In addition to a plaque, recognition on the SBIC website and coverage in the Institute’s newsletter, winning projects will be published on the WBDG Whole Building Design Guide® website, the largest online resource of buildings-related information in the world.
SBIC also is seeking nominations for the 2012 Greg Franta Memorial Award. Established in memory of the former SBIC chairman and leader in the sustainable building field, the Greg Franta Memorial Award recognizes a person or organization that has demonstrated an outstanding contribution to high-performance, sustainable building design and construction.
Beyond Green™ High-Performance Building Award and Greg Franta Memorial Award submissions are due November 2, 2012. Download the Call for Entries.
