FACILITY MAINTENANCE & OPERATIONS COMMITTEE (FMOC):

The FMOC provides industry-wide, public/private support for higher quality facilities through improved maintenance & operation. FMOC’s objectives are to increase the influence of maintenance and operations procedures and information in facility acquisition, to promote the sharing and integration of such procedures and information, and to identify and disseminate “best practices.” With a grant from the Federal IT Innovation Fund, FMOC executed a pilot project, the “Construction Operation Building Information Exchange (COBIE), to examine the complexities of implementing the use of a standardized electronic format for operations and maintenance manuals. This data standard allows equipment manufacturers to provide electronic O&M manuals that can be entered directly into computerized maintenance management software systems. The design of the COBIE component of Project Extranet (ProjNet) has been implemented upon submission requirements for O&M-related information identified in the SpecsIntact United Facilities Guide Specifications. This is a business process implementation of the OMSI project contributed to the National Building Information Model Standard (NBIMS) of the NIBS Facility Information Council (FIC).
