GSA INTERMITTENT ESCALATOR PROJECT:
In the Energy Policy Act of 2005, Congress required the General Services Administration (GSA) to conduct a study of the advantages and disadvantages of employing intermittent escalators in the United States and report the findings based on energy efficiency, life cycle cost (LCC), safety, and other costs such as liability. NIBS convened an expert panel and completed the study under contract with GSA. GSA delivered the report to Congress, but an official presentation has not been scheduled.
