BUILDING ENCLOSURE TECHNOLOGY & ENVIRONMENTAL COUNCIL (BETEC):

BETEC, formed in 1982, fosters public/private cooperation for environmental quality and energy efficiency in buildings. BETEC developed publications such as the Envelope Design Guide are available on the Whole Building Design Guide, www.wbdg.org. The Council is developing a commissioning guideline for Building Enclosure. Through a cooperative agreement with the American Institute of Architects, BETEC has formed and organized Building Enclosure Councils in numerous U.S. cities. The Council's annual symposiums promote technology transfer on a broad range of building envelope-related technical issues.

BETEC continued publication of Journal of Building Enclosure Design. The second issue of JBED, Winter 2007, focused on the latest developments in building energy conservation, security, and improved building envelope design and performance. JBED is distributed to all members of BETEC and other NIBS councils, corporate, government, and association leaders, design and construction professionals, and researchers and academics in Canada and the United States. More than 2,000 copies of the latest printing were disseminated.
