This is a project being carried out under a grant from the Charles Pankow Foundation. It is a comprehensive project covering all facets of structures. It is incorporating work from other efforts to date, and will provide the requirements definition needed for vendors to implement new software products.

The focus of the project is to create Industry Foundation Classes (IFCs) for the exchange of information across the structural domain; including exchanges between the structural model and architectural, structural analysis, structural detailing and construction models. The reliable exchange of structural element geometry and properties with high accuracy is the project's first priority. The exchange of a multitude of other structural attributes will also be incorporated as the project progresses.

Project Manager: Thomas R. McLane / tmclane@atcouncil.org (703) 351-5052

Scope

The project will be based on the NBIM standard. This project seeks to engage a broad community from engineering, industry and software development.
