NBIMS-US™ 1.0 makes 8 separate references to the value that Ontology offers to bSa's mission. Since 2007 there has been significant increases in the tools, methodologies, and performance of Ontology Engineering largely outside the ken of bSa. We have made preliminary contact with core Ontology professionals and have received encouraging statements to proceed as an AECOO + FM outreach efforts. Specifically, we have been offered multi-year "road maps" and "templates" for a soft approach focused upon collaboration within bSa communities of practice, Financial Industry Business Ontology project (FIBO), and the facilities management industry.

Scope

The NBIMS-US™ 3.0 Terminology Subcommittee (TGS) was chartered to review NBIMS-US™ 1 & NBIMS-US™ 2 terms and graphics for coherence and consistency (Harmonization across AECOO+FM Disciplines). We reviewed both text and the 102 graphics with these criteria and concluded that the BIMS Life Cycle Phases and subphases was most in need of formal harmonization and justification as a business case. The scope is broad and includes the "frontiers" of BIM Life Cycle at both ends of the workflows/value chains.
