buildingSMART alliance Best Practices Projects

Best Practices Projects

The facilities industry has the opportunity to profoundly change the way it does business using BIM as the enabler. First we need to describe how we do business or plan initially do business using BIM. Many pioneer firms efforts are being defined by using the IDM/MVD process based on ISO 29481-1:2010. In many cases associations representing an industry sector are developing higher level business processes. There are examples in the steel and precast concrete industries available for others to learn from. These business processes will continue to be improved over time using change management strategies until best practices ultimately emerge. Over time some of these will become standard practice. The projects in this section are those that have been identified and are being coordinated through the buildingSMART alliance®. We encourage everyone undergoing such business process documentation to list their projects here and to take advantage of the portal for collaboration of their efforts. Awareness that these activities are under way is an important first step in the journey.
