buildingSMART National Conference Presentations Available Online
WASHINGTON, DC — The buildingSMART
alliance™ announced today the availability of 16 presentations from the
buildingSMART National Conference held in Washington, D.C., on
December 13, 2007. More than 250 people attended the one-day event that was
part of the 2007 EcoBuild / AEC-ST conference.
“We are
fully operational and open for business,” Deke Smith, executive director of
the alliance, announced at the start of the conference.
Opening presentations describe
plans and initiatives of the alliance including the National BIM Standard
and the AECOO Testbed project. Other available talks cover open standards,
education, business strategies and case studies.
All 16 presentations are viewable at no charge, at
www.buildingsmartalliance.org/news/presentations.php.
This first
buildingSMART
Conference was organized by the buildingSMART
alliance™, a program of the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS).
The buildingSMART
alliance™ is a membership-based coalition of companies, associations and
professional societies, government agencies, and individuals from all
sectors of the building industry, organized to develop and promote more
efficient methods and standards for gathering, maintaining and communicating
technical information related to facility lifecycles.
Smith notes that future presentations may be available to
alliance members only. “While you may have missed the first buildingSMART
National Conference, you have another chance—we are bringing the
presentations to you. There is a significant need for education about BIM,
and these talks represent some of the best authorities in the industry.
Becoming an alliance member will help us provide future conferences
featuring BIM to help continue your education.”
The next buildingSMART
National Conference will take place in Anaheim,
California, on May 19-22, 2008. Including workshops, presentations and
vendor exhibits, the conference will focus on the National BIM Standard. For
