Construction
professionals will be able to continue their education in the building sciences
for years to come with the help of the National Institute of Building Sciences
and AEC Science and Technology, LLC.
The two
organizations signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) this week to make the
Institute the exclusive high-level sponsor of Ecobuild America, the conference
AEC produces each December in Washington, D.C.
“The Institute is
involved in many aspects of building science yet architects, engineers,
contractors and facility managers may not be aware of how our work improves
building performance,” said National Institute of Building Sciences President
Henry L. Green, Hon. AIA. “Our agreement with AEC will expose more of the
industry to the Institute and projects we develop—ranging from hazard mitigation
tools to building information modeling—which professionals use every day in the
field to design, construct and maintain safer, stronger, more sustainable
buildings and facilities.”
The Institute has
been a co-sponsor of Ecobuild America for years, but this is the first time the
Institute will be lead sponsor and hold its Annual Meeting in tandem with the
event.
“The National
Institute of Building Sciences plays a significant and unique role in the
construction industry,” said AEC Science and Technology Principal George
Borkovich. “Ecobuild America is the perfect stage for the Institute to advance
its building science and technology mission.”
A number of other
Institute events will occur during Ecobuild America 2009, including the FEDCon®
Conference, the buildingSMART alliance™ International Conference on Facility
Lifecycle Collaboration and Sustainability, the Building Enclosure Technology
and Environment Council Conference on Sustainability, as well as the National
High Performance Building Conference®.
