GSA Workshop Focuses on Delivery, Operation of High Performance Buildings

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) focused on building performance at its most recent HVAC Excellence Program workshop. “Delivery and Operations of High Performance Buildings” was the topic of the 16th annual event, held in Albuquerque, N.M., May 5-7. More than 70 GSA engineers, architects, project managers and property managers attended. The technical presentations addressed high-performance buildings, reliability-centered maintenance, total building commissioning, photovoltaic applications, solid state lighting, integration and operation of building control systems, SMART buildings and a range of other subjects.

GSA created its HVAC Excellence Program in 1998 as a tool to enhance its portfolio of both new and renovation projects in response to evolving business practices and client expectations. The program has been consistently identified as an opportunity for GSA to increase tenant satisfaction while achieving energy efficiency and ease of operations and maintenance. Over the past several years, the Institute has facilitated the GSA HVAC Excellence Workshop to foster integration between design of HVAC systems and operations and maintenance issues, focusing mainly on sustainability, functionality, operability and maintainability in GSA buildings.
