The Institute recognizes ASHRAE as a catalyst for implementing building information modeling (BIM) throughout the life-cycle of a facility and is seeking to forge a close working relationship. At the recent ASHRAE Winter Conference in Chicago, the buildingSMART alliance™ Executive Director Deke Smith, Assisting Director Birgitta Foster and Army Corps of Engineers senior researcher Dr. Bill East, all delivered presentations on various aspects of buildingSMART alliance™ projects including the National BIM Standard – United States™, COBie and a BIM after Construction strategy to engage ASHRAE in the implementation process.
