Focusing on Performance of the Building Envelope

Dr. Get Moy, Chair of the High Performance Building Council (HPBC), addresses attendees during a workshop on the High Performance Based Design for the Building Envelope (HPBDE) project. The Institute is performing work for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate, Infrastructure Protection and Disaster Management Division (IDD), to establish metrics, baseline and benchmark performance levels for the attributes that define high-performing building envelopes.

At the workshop, held at the American Institute of Architects Headquarters, technical committee leaders presented preliminary findings and a demonstration of the Owners Performance Requirements (OPR) Tool developed for the project. Members of the HPBC and others interested in high-performance building envelope systems are called on to review the work and provide comments. The HPBDE Project Report and OPR Tool will be made available to the public at the conclusion of the project. Learn more about the HPBDE project
