Construction professionals can learn how to apply high performance building practices to their projects by attending Ecobuild® America, December 7-10, in Washington, D.C.
“High performance building has a real-dollar value for the country at large,” said National Institute of Building Sciences President Henry L. Green, Hon. AIA. “In addition to helping owners save money by reducing energy costs, high performance buildings help save natural resources and reduce our impact on the planet.”
Ecobuild® America brings together government and industry experts to the most comprehensive high performance building (HPB) conference and exhibition in the nation, to be held at the Washington Convention Center. The National Institute of Building Sciences, the leading organization in the United States responsible for coordinating the development of high performance building standards, will sponsor the event, which is being produced by AEC Science & Technology®.
Plus, the National High Performance Building Conference® debuts at this year’s Ecobuild® conference. This new, co-located conference includes meetings, roundtable discussions, seminars, workshops and product exhibits. Sessions will cover federal high performance building policies and industry developments. “High performance building is the future of the industry,” said Ecobuild® Principal George Borkovich. “It embodies the health, safety, and welfare of those who design, construct, own, and operate capital facilities –our entire built environment. We are proud to be the gathering place for all building professionals—from architects to specifiers to engineers to end users—to gain industry knowledge, including cutting-edge information about high performance building.”
Attendees can choose from sessions on solar and alternative energy solutions; school safety and security; the National Clearinghouse for Educational Facilities; green healthcare facilities; building information modeling (BIM); heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems; mechanical systems; intelligent buildings; geothermal HVAC design; the Whole-Building Design Guide, energy software and design resources; high performance homes; zero energy buildings; energy modeling, lifecycle energy usage; and energy efficient daylighting. In addition, the leader of the High Performance Building Congressional Caucus, U.S. Representative Russ Carnahan (D-Mo.), will share his thoughts and current policies on high performance building.
Scheduled committee meetings include the High Performance Building Council (HPBC) of the National Institute of Building Sciences; the High Performance Building Energy- Efficiency Roundtable (HPBEER) chaired by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc. (ASHRAE), the High Performance Building Congressional Caucus (HPBCC) led by Rep. Carnahan and Rep. Judy Biggert (R-Ill.); and the High Performance Building Congressional Caucus Coalition (HPBCCC) chaired by ASHRAE.
