FEDCon® 11
The Market Outlook on Federal Construction

AIA Continuing Education

The most authoritative, up-to-date informaton on federal agency building and infrastructure budgets, construction forecasts and regulatory updates. Presented by the National Institute of Building Sciences, FEDCon® ‘11 will take place Tuesday, December 6, at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., alongside the Institute’s Annual Meeting and the Ecobuild America conference and exhibition.

FEDCon® ‘11 gives private-sector architects, engineers, general and specialty contractors, and manufacturers insight on what they need to know to deliver services and products to the U.S. federal government—the world's largest facility owner and procurer of design and construction services.

"Federal agencies have experienced shifting budgets and changing priorities this year," said Institute President Henry L. Green, Hon. AIA. "FEDCon® provides design and construction professionals with a forum to hear directly from government agencies about building projects for 2012, and where the opportunities will be in the future."

Officials from a number of federal agencies, including the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. General Services Administration, U.S. Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC), U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department of Transportation and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, will present their construction budgets for the current year and planned budgets for future years, discuss the types of buildings to be designed, offer regional and international construction information, and provide the overall direction of their design/construction programs.

In addition, David Heyman, Assistant Secretary for Policy at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, will present the luncheon keynote address. Heyman is an expert on terrorism, critical infrastructure protection, bioterrorism and risk-based security.
