The 2014 Building Seismic Safety Council Provisions Update Committee (PUC), the body responsible for updating the NEHRP (National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program) Recommended Seismic Provisions for New Buildings and Other Structures, is meeting on March 22-23, 2011, to review progress on its efforts to develop the 2014 edition of the Provisions.
The agenda for the meeting includes:
- Review and resolution of PUC ballot comments on adoption of ASCE/SEI 7-10 as the primary reference standard for the 2014 Provisions.
- Briefings on the status of PUC Issue Team (IT) efforts concerning IT1, incorporation of FEMA P-695/P-795 methodologies; IT 2, evaluation of performance objectives and Seismic Design Categories; IT 3, seismic anchorage to concrete; and IT 4, response history analysis.
- Review of related projects under way to develop simplified seismic design procedures and update ASCE/SEI 31/41.
- Briefings on the recent earthquakes in Christchurch, New Zealand, and Honshu, Japan.
- Review of the series of resources papers included as Part 3 of the 2009 Provisions.
- Discussion of how best to treat the commentary material for the 2014 Provisions.
