Almost 100 people attend the Quantity Takeoff information exchange (QTie) presentation, one of four information exchanges held during the Institute’s Annual Meeting.
The live information exchange demonstrations at the Annual Meeting were a big hit. An audience of 50 to 100 participants throughout the day witnessed live demos of the Construction Operations Building information exchange (COBie), Life Cycle information exchange (LCie), Specifiers' Properties information exchange (SPie), and the Quantity Takeoff information exchange (QTie).
With the theme, “Handover is getting better,” COBie showcased the impact that a common data standard for the handover of facility information is having in practice. Providing “The owners' view of the life-cycle,” LCie demonstrated how information flows throughout a project can be captured and consolidated to ensure that the owner-occupier continues to have a clear and complete description of the facility. Through “Better specification and better selection of products,” the SPie demo showcased how the SPie standard is being implemented. The QTie demo helped answer the question: “Is BIM ready for take-off?” by showing how standards support improved processes. Read the details.
