About Building Innovation 2013

Building Innovation 2013: The National Institute of Building Sciences Conference and Expo is the first in a series of independent annual events that will support the Institute’s commitment to bring together representatives of the entire building community to review advancements in science and technology and develop solutions for our built environment.

Building Innovation 2013 is scheduled for January 7-10, 2013, in Washington, D.C.  With the Conference theme, “Improving Resiliency through High Performance,” the Institute will present an informative program that highlights its activities and programs for developing innovative solutions for our industry and improving the built environment.  The Institute’s first independent conference in more than two decades will feature established, successful and popular events, including the buildingSMART alliance™ Conference, the Building Enclosure Technology and Environment Council (BETEC) Symposium, the Multihazard Mitigation Council (MMC) Symposium and FEDCon® – The Market Outlook on Federal Construction, as well as various council and committee meetings and innovative technology demonstrations, such as the Construction Operations Building information exchange (COBie) and related projects. 

Building Innovation 2013 will present members of the building community with a great opportunity to witness the Institute’s impact on the industry, interact with industry experts and innovators, gain a wealth of information through educational programs, earn continuing education units (CEUs), share their expertise and experiences, and participate in advancements toward improving resiliency through high performance.

Building Innovation 2013 provides a gathering place for building community leaders to convene for four impactful days of information sharing, networking opportunities and a content-rich conference and educational program offering sponsors and exhibitors a great opportunity to support the Institute’s efforts, reach their target audience, present their products and services, and gain valuable exposure and recognition for their contribution to the built environment and high-performance buildings. 

The Building Innovation 2013 Conference schedule will be organized in the following four tracks to attract a diverse group of industry professionals:
