Collaboration is the rage today, but how far is it really reaching? Is the collaboration just in your office? Does it reach to construction, fabrication, and operations? In most cases it appears it does not. We may have a 40 year legacy, but we are yet just getting started along a path that will lead to real business process improvement. BIM provides us the opportunity, but we must take the steps necessary to truly realize the benefits. One of those steps is developing standards. The National BIM Standard is way we are going to achieve our goals because we must have standards that stretch from inception of the project onward. Those for the most part don't yet exist. This session will identify where we are today and lay out the journey ahead of us all. Deke Smith, Executive Director of buildingSMART alliance™ and a member of the Executive Committee of buildingSMART International will lead the discussion. Deke Smith is presenting.
