The Future of Specifying is Near –
Learn How It Will Benefit Your Business

Specifiers’ Properties information exchange (SPie)
Ecobuild America, Washington, DC
Wednesday, December 9, 8:30 am – 12:00 noon, Room 154

Come witness the future of specifying in the making.

The Specifiers Properties information exchange (SPie), sponsored by the National Institute of Building Sciences, will showcase how a common data standard can help designers and specifiers to manage their requirements and select and specify products. Product manufacturers, including GE Lighting, Eaton, BASF, US Gypsum, Wheatland and others, will show how their products can be distributed using buildingSMART Industry Foundation Classes (IFCs) through software such as Revit and e-SPECS. This new technology will have an enormous impact on the industry. See how the comparative costs against conventional practice can lead to a win-win proposition for designers, specifiers, product manufacturers and trade associations.

Agenda:

  • An introduction to design, specification and handover
  • The business problems
  • The role of buildingSMART, IFC and Classification standards
  • The SCIP project
  • Architectural examples from product manufacturers
  • Electrical example from product manufacturers
  • Live demonstration of design, specification and product selection
  • Next steps: Panel Q&A on the roll-out of SPie

SPie is Free and open to all registered attendees. Attendees who register for any Ecobuild America conference package or Exhibit Hall and Keynote Pass should present their badge at the door for admission.
