HAZUS®-MH MR4 Patch 1, CDMS 2.5 Now Available

Two updates are now available for HAZUS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)’s PC- and GIS-based natural hazards assessment tool that simulates potential earthquakes, floods and hurricanes and their physical, economic and social consequences.

HAZUS®-MH MR4 Patch 1

The HAZUS®-MH MR4 Patch 1 for the Flood Model adds the capability to modify roughness elements (Manning’s coefficient) within stream reaches. This will allow flood modeling for different types of natural streams and those with flood control features and Patch 1 fixes 28 Flood Model bugs.

The Hurricane Model adds Floyd (1999), Gustav (2008) and Ike (2008) to the table of historic hurricanes, and displays the entire imported HURREVAC storm track.

The Earthquake Model corrects damage and loss results produced by the AEBM (Advanced Engineering Building Module), updates the Fire-Following Module, and corrects the over estimation of building damage due to permanent ground deformation (PGD) when non-default liquefaction and landslide factors are used.

The HAZUS Shell now operates only on ArcView 9.3.1 and ArcGIS 9.3 SP1. It permits creation of a study region using a boundary for a feature such as a watershed, city or township, and the export of study regions that have a total compressed size greater than 4 GB. It is important to note that this patch uninstalls only with a complete uninstall of HAZUS-MH MR4.

CDMS 2.5

The Comprehensive Data Management System (CDMS) 2.5 now operates only on ArcView 9.3.1 and ArcGIS 9.3 SP1. Its installation and running are less restricted by user permissions and administrative rights than previous versions. CDMS 2.5 allows modification of the flood occupancy mapping data with up to 500 census blocks of building specific data. It provides users a choice for overriding all occupancy classes or just those with positive integer values, when importing site specific inventory in order to update the aggregate inventory. CDMS 2.5 validates CDMS functions and fixes multiple bugs.
